2007 Elkhart Lake Triathlon (Olympic Distance)
Purchase Date:

It's days like this, that even though the races are a few months away, your adrenaline starts moving a little more than normal. I should have my SOMA entry soon, just waiting on the 100% confirmation from GB that he's doing it as well.

On a side note, the aforementioned mountain bike shall be purchased pretty soon. As I was reading up on the trails I'll be riding most of the time, I was "delighted" to find out that part of the trail is actually reported to be haunted...see that little St. James church in the corner?

This has supposedly been reported to be haunted by numerous people, as well as law enforcement, not to mention guys from the mountain biking club that ride their frequently, that have reported some odd things.

So not only will I have the terrain to battle with, I'll have to keep eye out for crazy ghost monks that are going to make me kneel and pray all night on ball bearings, SWEET, I'll keep ya posted in my rides coming up if I see anything "unusual".

OK, if you're easily offended please skip this.

(A picture of treadmills, obviously not taken at my club per my story below.)

Welcome, my hardcore readers, this one is going to be a short rant, maybe I'm wrong, but last night I got a little red headed, to say the least.

Now I totally understand that people are at different levels of physical fitness, hell I'm no pro athlete by any stretch of the imagination, but what I saw absolutely pissed me off.

My club has ten treadmills, ten. As I'm sitting and waiting for 15 minutes last night for one to open up, I counted exactly 2 of the 10 treadmills actually be used for running. Normally I can handle that, but there were a few things that really, really rubbed me the wrong way.

1. To the guy who thinks it's OK to answer your cell phone (when the club has rules posted up all over about cell phone use) while doing your walk "workout", please take that phone and shove it in the appropriate location.

2. To the guy next to me, who after an hour of walking at 2.7mph, needed to a 10 minute 1.0mph cool down, you don't, please get off the treadmill so those that actually want to push themselves can utilize it.

3. To the club, I think it's about time you get up signs about the proper etiquette of the treadmill. While I was sitting there, I saw one girl, of course walking, go to thirty minutes. She then took about a 3 minute break on the treadmill (just stood there, stretched a little, drank some water) and then reset the treadmill and continued walking on. (With a line of 4 of us waiting in clear line of sight of her).

Don't get me wrong, I think people should workout, and realize not all are at the same fitness level, but there's still a point of working out vs not even attempting to push yourself, and that's what was rubbing me the wrong way. On top of that, there's a track you can use for free at the high school (right down the road)..if you're going to pay a monthly fee for a club, don't you at least want to get something out of it? I can guarantee you that of the 8 walkers, for only 1 I could see it was an actual workout, and I have no problem with that, it's the other 7 clowns that need to get their shit together.

OK, I'm done, this is the "PC" version, I was going to post last night after I got home (I did get a 4 mile RUN in eventually after all that BS), but I didn't want the FCC after me. I feel better, thanks for hearing me out.

Lots of Fun...

Hello all, as you can see (wow, has it really been since November?), I've been MIA, but don't you worry, I've been keeping up on my workouts (5 mile run last night as a matter of fact), just with the little one, the holidays, and my trips up to Milwaukee to watch some Marquette Basketball games, my postings have suffered.......

On the triathlon front, I've gotten a bunch of new training goodies, and I'm about to buy my new baby that will take me into my first Xterra adventure this year.....

Keep those pants pulled up tight, 2007 is going to be one hell of a season, I can't wait.
